Getting the beds ready for spring!!!

Working in the beds, my son Noah and I added lots of leaf mold that accumulated underneath th shrubs in the front yard we also added several scoops of wood ash from all the limbs that we had burned.

I ordered all my drip irrigation today for the garden. I went with a orbit digital timer complete garden kit which came with 2 valves and a 4 way brass manifold but I ordered a third valve just incase I need to expand. I decided to go with rainbird drip line with builtin line emitters spaced every 12in  its clog resistant and pressure compensating. Last but not least I ordered 2 y filters with 25psi pressure regulators for the facuet valves. This should take care of the watering part this summer and I will take pictures or video of the installation.

Heirloom melons yum!!

Im excited to grow3 new heirloom melons this year 1. Tigger 2. prescott fond blanc 3.Noir Des Carmes   all from sun rise seeds.

Preparing for the new year of 2010

I have already orded all my seed varties ths year. The children helped pick there own varities this time around and will have there own garden bed, my wife will have her own aswell. I ran a new water facuet to the end of the middle bed and plan on installing drip irrigation to all six beds that measure 4'x16'. All tomatos, peppers, melons, summer squash and winter squash will be grown by seed just like last year in my attic.
